Passover – removing the sin

Many of you know that we are entering into the season of Passover, which means we have the opportunity to remember the story of what Yahweh did for His people and how He saved them from suffering. But it’s also a good time to do a Spiritual “check” of our temples to make sure that they are clean, pure, righteous and holy for our King. We should want to make sure that every ounce of sin in our life is confessed and out of our lives. Anything that is unclean needs to be purged out. We should always strive to have a clean temple, but this is the time of year when we truly recognize who we are and who we can be through Yeshua. He died for our sins, to wipe them clean. Let us make sure to honor Him by thanking Him for freedom and mercy during this time.

Galatians 5:24 says, “Now those who belong to Yeshua the Messiah have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.” We need to be able to die to our flesh and what we want and desire in order for us to live a healthy, pleasing life unto the Father. Too often do we struggle in situations and don’t understand that most of the time it is our own fault because we will not heed to what He says for us to do, or what He wants, and we end up following our flesh, which most of the time brings adversity and strife. When we die to our fleshly desires, He brings clarity, peace, and comfort.

If you have just a little bit of sin in your life, and you know it, you may think, “how can it harm me?” It says in Galatians 5:9, “A little yeast leavens the whole lump of dough.” It also says in 1 Corinthians 5:6, “Your boasting is not good. Don’t you know that a little yeast permeates the whole batch of dough?” Just as a small amount of yeast rises a whole loaf of bread, if we have just a small amount of “yeast” (representing sin) in our lives, it will affect our whole body, which will affect our lives. We eat unleavened bread during this time of year to remind us to take out the yeast (sin, addictions, habits, wrongdoings, etc.) within our lives, remembering what Yeshua did, and how we were set free from the bondage of pain and suffering.  I love this next verse: 1 Corinthians 5:7-8, “Clean out the old yeast so that you may be a new batch. You are indeed unleavened, for Christ, our Passover has been sacrificed. Therefore, let us observe the feast, not with old yeast or with the yeast of malice and evil but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.” Sometimes we become puffed up (as in the rising of the bread) or prideful and are unable to see the sin that we possess. This is the time to pray and ask the Father to help you get rid of your prideful, selfish thoughts and ways, and ask Him to help you see what you need to change. Let us desire the fruits of the Spirit: Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Gal. 5:22-23). The more we strive to have these beautiful characteristics, the more we become like Yeshua. He is the perfect, spotless, unblemished lamb that was sacrificed. He had no pride, no selfishness, no sin. His life should not have had to be sacrificed for our mistake. Nevertheless, He was obedient and chose to do so anyway. There is no greater love than from Above. Let us never forget what He did for us. No one will ever understand the depth and gravity of what He had to go through just so that we can be forgiven and redeemed through His blood. Praise YAHWEH for His endless love! May you all have a Happy Passover!
