Starting your day in a positive way

I am reminded of Yah’s beautiful, wondrous nature once again as I lay awake in the early hours of the morning. My intention of getting up extra early was to work on a research paper and try to get my schoolwork finished for the year. Yahweh apparently had other plans because I felt so strongly that He wanted me to spend the morning with Him. I started to argue (being in a logical mindset, starting to tell the Lord what I needed to get done by a certain time, etc.), but I realized it was pointless and that I really did need and long to spend time with Him instead. Instead of clicking on my assignment, I closed my eyes and opened my ears. My window was open and all I heard was birds chirping away in their morning song, crickets and frogs accepting the morning light. As I opened my eyes I saw a beautiful fawn cross the yard. Nature and creation is such a beautiful thing to take in, especially in the morning. I felt as if Yahweh was right outside my door showing off how majestic, beautiful and creative He really is. It surely brought a smile to my face.

Have you ever gone into the forest (woods, wooded area) by yourself and just felt a strange overwhelming peace and shalom around and over you? Perhaps you felt filled with joy and as if every single problem and difficulty disappeared in thin air. If you’ve felt this before, why does it usually only happen when you’re in the forest? Why not in your bedroom when you’re alone or when your driving? This may be a strange topic, but here is how I look at it: Mankind was created to live and breathe in nature, creation, the outdoors. We were meant to live with the animals, dwell among creation and everything that God existed. From the beginning, we were created perfect- until HaSatan’s deception took place and we fell short of God’s glory. If you think about it though, Adam and Eve had perfect peace in knowing who they were through Yeshua, they had no problems or worry, and they trusted their God. They lived in and throughout Creation. I believe when we truly venture out into His creation and soak in the beauty of it, we start to feel the overwhelming, peaceful sensation that we were once created to feel. All of our problems and difficult situations seem to disappear because we are so caught up in the beauty of what God has created nothing seems to matter anymore. It’s as if you’ve walked into His throne room, His chambers, encountering His beauty, and He takes away everything that you aren’t meant to carry as a burden. He gives you a gift of peace and secretly allows you to feel His presence and shalom. Being in Yahweh’s presence and feeling His shalom is something that is un-comprehendible. However, if you are by yourself in your bedroom, driving your car etc., what happens? You wallow in self-pity, your problems, the struggle of every single thing going on in your life, your pillow is stained with tears, and you begin to feel sorry for yourself. We cannot truly focus on God when all we think about is ourselves and what we’re going through. We forget what He has done for us ultimately. We forget that our Savior, Yeshua the Messiah, died to know us. He died so that we might have a second chance in living, learning and breathing for Him. We could have been cursed and thrown away because of our disobedience to Him and the perfect calling that He had for us in the beginning. Instead, God chose to give us new life, love and a deeper understanding of who He is and also who we can be through Him. I don’t believe we will ever understand the depth and gravity of His love for us. His Creation speaks so much about His character, His love, and who He is. Even if you just have to open your window in the morning to hear the birds chirping and singing their songs to the One who Created them. Let us also start out our morning in song and prayer of thanksgiving and praise. Start out the day in a positive, thankful way.

A Prayer of Thanksgiving

Psalm 138

I thank you, Lord, with all my heart;
I sing praise to you before the gods.
I face your holy Temple,
bow down, and praise your name
because of your constant love and faithfulness,
because you have shown that your name and your commands are supreme.
You answered me when I called to you;
with your strength you strengthened me.
All the kings in the world will praise you, Lord,
because they have heard your promises.
They will sing about what you have done
and about your great glory.
Even though you are so high above,
you care for the lowly,
and the proud cannot hide from you.
When I am surrounded by troubles,
you keep me safe.
You oppose my angry enemies
and save me by your power.
You will do everything you have promised;
Lord, your love is eternal.
Complete the work that you have begun.
