In the first two parts of this series on Joseph, we unpacked quite a bit of information concerning how Joseph not only survived his trial, but thrived in it and was elevated to a higher place in the end. Every true believer can relate to Joseph's story of pain, betrayal, hurt, and grief...His story is the story of every human, which makes it the perfect case study to discover the "formula" the Creator placed within it to help each of us today be elevated, as well.
In Part 1 of our study, we discovered the true desire of the "Man" behind the curtain and why He allows calamities on the yellow brick road of our lives. We learned that His sole desire is for us to create utter dependence on Him so as to produce the necessary trust and faith that will enable us to finally serve His people in the way that pleases Him the most. We learned that focusing on receiving for the sake of ourselves, in any capacity, will trigger another audit which will plunge us back into another situation designed to correct our soul and bring us to utter dependence on Him.
This week’s Torah portion is one of the most beautiful stories of reconciliation, healing, and true forgiveness in all of Holy Writ. It is not only the climax of the epic journey of one of the most-loved bible characters of all time, but it is the exact template, a perfect blueprinted foreshadowing, of the life and character of our Messiah, Yeshua. If you could choose only one bible story to read, this historical account of Joseph could very well be nominated as the one to choose. It encompasses every emotion and every human experience: jealousy, anger, grief, supposed death, resurrection, joy, lust, rags, riches, and betrayal. It runs the gamut from the humiliation of prison to the glory of the right hand of Pharaoh, from fear one minute to tears of joy the next. And this Cinderella story also has a gloriously climactic end. It’s a story about Joseph. It’s a story about Christ. It’s a story about you. So let’s dig in.
